Terms of Service (TOS)
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the App.
2. Description of Service
The App allows users to discover restaurants and submit structured, metric-based ratings (e.g., taste, service, value). The App does not support free-form written reviews.
Certain features rely on your device’s location to display relevant nearby restaurants. Other features include saving restaurants, bookmarking search filters, sharing filter bookmarks via link, submitting new restaurant listings, and contacting support.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.
4. User Accounts
An account (email, username, and password) is required to submit structured ratings and add restaurant listings.
You may browse the App without an account. Signed-in users can sync review history, save restaurants, bookmark and share filters, and recover passwords.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activity under your account
- Providing accurate account information
5. User Content (Structured Ratings)
Users submit ratings using predefined metrics ("User Content"). No written reviews are permitted.
By submitting ratings, you grant Trouver a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Store
- Display
- Aggregate
- Analyze
- Use for ranking and ordering restaurants
Ratings are aggregated and may be displayed publicly as part of restaurant rankings. Individual ratings are not published with your username or email, but are associated with a pseudonymous identifier.
You agree not to:
- Manipulate ratings (e.g., coordinated or fraudulent activity)
- Create multiple accounts to influence rankings
- Submit ratings that do not reflect genuine experiences
6. Support Submissions and Restaurant Reports
When you contact support or report a restaurant listing, you may submit free-form text (such as a message or reason). You agree to provide accurate information and not submit abusive, unlawful, or misleading content.
We may use your submissions to investigate issues, moderate listings, and improve the App. Support and report content is handled according to our Privacy Policy.
7. User-Submitted Restaurant Listings
Signed-in users may submit new restaurant listings. You represent that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We may review, edit, or remove submitted listings at our discretion.
8. Shared Filter Bookmarks
Signed-in users may generate shareable links for saved search filter bookmarks. Shared links contain filter settings only, not personal account information. Anyone with the link can view the shared filter configuration.
9. Ranking and Display of Restaurants
Restaurants are displayed and ranked based on aggregated user-submitted metrics (such as taste and service).
The App:
- Does not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or fairness of rankings
- May use proprietary methods to calculate rankings
- May change ranking methodologies at any time without notice
10. Content Moderation
We reserve the right to:
- Remove ratings
- Remove or edit restaurant listings
- Adjust or exclude suspicious activity
- Suspend or terminate accounts engaging in manipulation or abuse
11. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access
- Interfere with system integrity
- Use bots, scripts, or automation to submit ratings or abuse forms
- Submit false restaurant listings or fraudulent reports
12. Intellectual Property
All App content (excluding User Content) is owned by Trouver.
Aggregated data, rankings, and analytics derived from User Content are the property of Trouver.
13. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
Specifically:
- Ratings reflect user opinions, not verified facts
- Restaurant rankings are algorithmically generated and may not reflect objective quality
- Location-based results may vary in accuracy depending on device signals
- We do not guarantee accuracy of any restaurant information
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trouver is not liable for:
- Errors in rankings or ratings
- Decisions made based on App content
- Inaccuracies in location-based results
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, including for:
- Violations of these Terms
- Suspected manipulation of ratings
- Abusive support or report submissions
You may delete your account and associated data at any time through the in-app account settings.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will revise the effective date when we do. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
